October 5, 2012 - The Rudd Center commends the U.S.** **Department of Agriculture for the significant improvements it made in the [regulations](http://www.fns.usda.gov/cnd/Governance/Legislation/nutritionstandards.htm) for the National School Lunch Program this year. Food service directors around the country have been working diligently to implement positive changes, including serving more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, while reducing sodium, saturated fat, and excess calories.
Not surprisingly, there has been some push back from a few students, teachers, and government representatives. Change is always challenging because, inevitably, some people want things to stay the same. It will take time, good communication, and some trial and error for food service staff and students to discover together the winning recipes that are both satisfying and nourishing.  _place_holder;
